King Of Jeans Adriano Goldschmied started his career as a professional skier. But his mother did not consider skiing a real job. And so, being a good Italian son, he put his skis away and headed into his neighboring ski resort village, Cortina to get a job. His first pair of jeans were sold under the King’s Jeans label. Strangely enough they were not made of denim but of upholstery fabrics and brocade. Overnight they became a success and overnight Adriano started planning bigger ideas. He moved on to concentrate on the creation of “King`s Jeans”, a high fashion label for the European market. And although the brand was widely successful Adriano’s vison kept growing. He was determined to design the most expensive jeans in the world. His next line, Daily Blu, featured a sophisticated cut, fine details and aggressive colors. This time his line took on an international appeal and his products were exported to the US, Japan, Australia and South America. Adriano Goldschmied had arrived and was becoming recognized as a key player in the worldwide demand for designer jeans. In early 1980 Adriano created the Genius Group. This new company served as the launching pad forsuch great denim lines as Diesel, Replay and Goldie. In 1986 the Genius Group was sold in order to create an International design studio that would feature luxury casual jeans collection packages. His studios in Europe and Japan provided the platform for the most innovative designs, manufacturing processes and washes. It was during this time that Adriano worked on designs for A Gold E, Rivet, Esprit, Marlboro Classics, Mavi, The Gap, Trussardi, Union Bay, Pepe Jeans and Mustang to name a few. In 1994 Adriano launched A.G. a one of the first denim collections to be designed around a contemporary lifestyle. The brand included signature stores around the world and again quite quickly became a well recognized worldwide brand. But Adriano’s long rooted desire to innovate, design and manufacture the “best” became his motivating drive. In 2004 He sold the A.G. brand so that he could concentrate on to his “gold” collection. GoldSign was born. Today, his state of the art design, manufacturing and wash facility sits in the heart of the hip renovated downtown Los Angeles. Here the experience of past, and his clear vision to design the latest trends in denim are married into his most unique collection yet. Clearly the vision that guides this remarkable designer is seen in this collection. His drive to outdo past achievements is stronger than ever and the title King of Jeans remains solely his. |
